About Me

Alison Heittman
Williamsburg, Virginia

As a seasoned veteran of software startups, I have a lot of random knowledge about what it takes to start, run and survive in this industry. For the most part, I’ve travelled this path with my husband Rob, starting back in 1999 when he stole me away from my library gig to start up an information architecture group at his software company. We rode the wave of venture capital, beer and foosball, and walked away from it to head over the calmer waters of freelance consulting. But when you’re good, your projects and clients grow, and eventually you have to hire again. So we’re riding the wave all over again, and learning a whole new set of lessons.

This blog is a mix of what I’ve learned, what fascinates me, and what is on my mind.

DISCLAIMER

I am a CEO of a software company, and as such, at times have to publicly represent the business.  This blog isn’t about my company. It’s not about my job as a CEO.  This is my personal blog and the views expressed here are mine alone, and do not represent my employer. So, if I get something wrong here, the mistake is mine. My bad. Seriously. My. Bad.
